The Cub Run, Kentucky, community is mourning the loss of Chad Steerman, an 18-year-old who passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, September 13, 2026. His death has left family members, friends, classmates, coworkers, and others who knew him grieving the loss of a young man remembered for his kindness, humor, and positive spirit.

Chad was a 2026 graduate of Hart County High School and worked as a cook at Olive Garden in Elizabethtown. Those who knew him remembered him as someone who could bring laughter and warmth into everyday moments, often using his sense of humor and dad jokes to make people smile.

Remembering Chad Steerman

Chad’s family and friends described him as caring, accepting, and encouraging toward others. He was known for embracing people for who they were and spreading positivity wherever he went.

Outside of work and school, Chad enjoyed a variety of activities. He had a passion for cooking and loved spending time with family and friends. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle, taking walks, climbing bridges, and creating memories with his dog, Baseball, and his best friend, Tristan Downs.

Another meaningful interest in Chad’s life was his support for breast cancer survivors. He particularly enjoyed seeing people wear pink, which was identified as his favorite color.

Family and Loved Ones

Chad was the beloved son of David Lindsey and Katherine Kingsbury Steerman Lindsey. He is survived by his parents, sister Alix Steerman and Nathan Decker, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, extended relatives, and many friends.

His family also remembered his special relationship with other-dad Donnie “Chainsaw” Jarboe. The people closest to Chad are now holding onto the memories they created with him as they navigate the pain of his passing.

Funeral Services

Visitation for Chad was held at Brooks Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 16, and Thursday, September 17, 2026. Funeral services followed at 1:00 p.m. CT on Thursday, with cremation taking place after the service.

Although Chad’s life ended at just 18 years old, those who knew him remember a young man whose life was filled with friendship, laughter, love, and compassion. His personality and willingness to make others smile left a lasting impression on the people around him.
